MetriNote – Google Meet Endpoint Options Expand

What’s the news?

September 8, 2021 – In a series of announcements, Google has expanded hardware options for its Google Meet video conferencing service. The first is a partnership with Cisco to enable two-way interoperability between Google and Cisco endpoints, and their respective meeting services. This capability allows joining of Cisco Webex meetings from Google Meet room systems, as well as joining of Google Meet conferences from Cisco Webex devices. The second is an expansion of Google’s partnership with Avocor to deliver new personal and room-based touch-screen video devices, the Google Meet Series One Desk 27 and Board 65, respectively. The Series One Desk is a 27” all-in-one touch-enabled device that provides one-click access to meetings and Google Jamboard, as well as voice activation. The Series One Desk can also function as a laptop docking station. The Board 65 is a 65” touchscreen device designed for large conference rooms. It can function as a video conferencing endpoint, or as a stand-alone digital touchscreen device for whiteboarding.
