What’s the news?
June 30, 2021 – Slack announced several features that it will roll out later this year to improve the ability of distributed teams to use Slack to communicate and collaborate, regardless of location. These include:
- Slack Huddles: Ad-hoc audio conferences launched from within a Slack channel or direct-message conversation. Huddles provide Slack users with a means to quickly escalate from a messaging chat to voice, without having to launch a video conference.
- Voice/Video/Screen Recordings: Allows team members to quickly record and share rich media messages into channels and conversations. The feature will include closed-captioning for accessibility and quick content review, the ability to record screens, and the ability to schedule distribution.
- Slack Atlas: Building upon its acquisition of Rimeto in 2020, Atlas creates a directory of Slack team members, based on data in internal company sources, to let employees quickly connect with, and learn about, each other.
