AI Sentiment Index: 2Q 2026 Summary Report
Summary
Author: Matt Craig, Senior Director of Product Development
The Metrigy AI Sentiment Index tracks how Americans feel about artificial intelligence (AI) and how that feeling changes from one quarter to the next. Each quarter, Metrigy surveys 1,000 U.S. adults sampled to be representative across age, gender, household income, region, and education. Respondents rate AI’s impact across three dimensions (personal, societal, and economic) both as they experience it today and as they expect it to be one to two years out. Those responses feed a diffusion index that subtracts negative shares from positive ones and gives extra weight to the most intense answers, so that strong conviction registers more clearly than mild leaning. First-quarter 2026 set the baseline at 100, and every figure here is measured against that anchor.
