What's the news?

The annual InfoComm trade show held in Las Vegas from June 13-19, 2026, represented an expansion of the conference’s focus on workplace collaboration. This year, for the first time, keynote sessions featured speakers from workplace collaboration vendors, including Ilya Bukshteyn, Microsoft’s Corporate VP for Teams Calling, Meetings, and Devices, and Espen Løberg, VP and GM for Cisco Collaboration Devices. The show also saw large presences by other vendors in the video conferencing space, including Barco, Crestron, HP, Jabra, Lenovo, Logitech, MAXHUB, Owl Labs, ViewSonic, Zoom, and many more (137 listed exhibitors in the video conferencing space alone). InfoComm has asserted itself as the premier industry event for video conferencing. This year’s show, as one could easily guess, was AI-heavy, with vendors leveraging AI to improve their products and services in a variety of ways. Key AI-related themes include:

  • AI for operational improvements – AI is rapidly working its way into room and application operations and management, as vendors add capabilities such as automated problem detection and mitigation, configuration management, and even room design, to their device and systems management platforms.
  • AI data federation –Model Context Protocol (MCP) and APIs were frequent discussion topics as vendors seek to both expand the capabilities of their own management platforms through accessing external data via MCP or API. MCP also allows vendors to share their management data with other AI-based platforms to simplify management, reduce siloes, and allow customers to use models like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT to create their own management agents.
  • AI meeting improvements – Vendors are using AI to improve meeting experiences including capture of active speakers, enhancing audio, and enabling in-meeting actions and participant collaboration.

In addition to these AI-specific topics, other prevalent themes include:

  • Interoperability – Businesses continue looking for the simplified ability to join any meeting app from any meeting room. Today, that vision is restricted by lack of interoperability between meeting services and lack of hardware certifications. Several vendors aim to overcome these challenges, as discussed in the announcement highlights below.
  • Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP) growth – MDEP is Microsoft’s approach to standardizing Teams Meetings on Android-based devices. The MDEP ecosystem is rapidly growing as video vendors add MDEP-based devices to their portfolio, including cameras and tablets.
