Slack Advances AI Teamwork

What's the news?

On Sept. 15, 2026, Salesforce announced several upgrades for Slack, all designed to make Slack the home for AI-based teamwork and collaboration. Updates include:

• Slackforce – An AI interface into Salesforce, enabling Slack to serve as the front-end for human and agentic interaction with Salesforce data. Slackforce enables teams to create a Slackforce Surface, providing customized reporting, dashboards, and interactive analysis capabilities that previously could only be built within Salesforce’s own UI.
• A Slackbot enhancement that brings a conversational assistant directly into collaboration channels so that all channel members have access to contextual assistance.
• Integration of Slackbot into the Salesforce Lightning UI to allow users to chat, via Slack, without leaving Lightning.
• New “Big Mode” Slackbot interface in Slack providing a place where users can work on dedicated projects such as content creation, research, or analysis. Slack plans to add video-generation capabilities this fall.
• Slack Code to allow users to create, review, edit, and ship code, all within Slack. This approach allows developers to more easily collaborate around code generation. It includes integrations with Anthropic, Cognition, GitHub, Vercel, and OpenAI.

Slackforce, Lightning integration, Big Mode, and Slack Code are all available now. Slackbot in Slack channels is in early pilot. Slackbot capabilities are available in Business+ and Enterprise+ plans. Slackbot in Lightning is available to non-Slack customers through Flex Credits.

Slack also announced a preview of Slack Frontline, designed specifically for deskless workers with features including work scheduling, company news sharing, and user support.
