What's the news?
On June 17, 2026, Slack announced Model Context Protocol (MCP) client support for Slackbot agentic AI within Slack. As such, Slackbot can now access data, via MCP, in any knowledge base offering MCP support. With this launch, Slackbot announced support for more than 20 MCP-capable apps from analytics, document management, workflow management, collaboration, and software development vendors (though Slackbot can now work with any MCP-compliant data source). The MCP client supports Slack’s existing compliance, security, and governance controls; MCP access is controllable through the Slack Marketplace Registry. Slackbot MCP client support is available today for existing Slackbot customers at no additional cost.
